The baby and adult CPR instructions in the above links are only a reference on how to perform CPR. They are not intended to be your only guide. Everybody should be properly trained for CPR by qualified instructors. The agencies and organizations listed below can assist you in finding a class:

  • American Heart Association:

The following is a list of some of the places where CPR training is available in the Valley. Most costs include instruction books. Classes fill up quickly; so call to book a time at least two weeks in advance:

  • Chandler Regional Hospital: Offered twice a month in Chandler and in the Ahwatukee Foothills area. Costs start at $20. Info: 821-7777.

  • Apache Junction Fire District: Classes based on demand, will come to businesses. Costs start at $10. Info: 982-5929.

  • Desert Samaritan Medical Center: Offered once a month. Costs start at $15. Info: 230-2273.

  • Kiwanis Park Recreation Center, Tempe: Offered twice a month. Costs start at $25. Info 350-5201.

  • American Red Cross: Wide schedule of classes offered, will come to businesses. Costs start at $20. Info: 336-6661 Ext. 1062, or visit the Web site at http://aztec.asu.edu/arc.

  • Rural Metro Fire Department: Offers classes several times per month. Please call 860-0796 for a recorded message on the upcoming class schedule. Cost is $15.00 per person and you need to register by phone in advance. Sandra Nygaard is the Public Education Officer for Rural Metro and may be reached at 602-860-0796.

  • The Glendale Fire Department offers CPR classes twice per month. The first Thursday of the month is CPR for non-health care providers. Cost is $15.00. The class is 6:30 to 10 p.m. The third Thursday of each month is CPR for health care providers. (it includes two person CPR) Cost is $20.00. Class is 6 to 10 p.m. Call 930-3401 for more information.

  • For a Valley wide listing of CPR classes, call a special hotline set up by the American Heart Association: 414-5330. The American Red Cross offers water-safety and child safety information in a variety of formats, from posters for pool side to cards for wallets. Many of the items are free. A colorful 1998 child safety wall calendar, with a first-aid reference guide, costs $10. For information, call 336-6661.
