As a parent, a community member and a subscriber to your newspaper, I beg you to start printing more information regarding the attempted abduction or molestation of any child in our community.

My daughter was nearly kidnapped at gunpoint almost two years ago. I thank God every day that she got away. She lived through that horror and relived every detail of that freak's face when she helped put together a composite picture. We contacted all the news media, but only Channel 3 (KTVK) ran it. It was not enough. He is still out there.

Sgt. Earl Lloyd of the Mesa Police Department recently said that police did not want to be alarmists by notifying neighborhoods of every case of attempted abduction or molestation.

As a mother, I say that is wrong. I watch my children very carefully. I would rather be an alarmist with all of my children safe at home every night than to be living through what Mikelle Biggs' family is going through.

What happened to my daughter occurred because my car broke down one day and she had to walk home from school by herself.

Two months later, within one mile of where my daughter was almost grabbed, another girl disappeared. She was about the same age. She was found dead in a field in Gilbert. That case also is unsolved.

There are 900 "known sex offenders" in Mesa and two officers to monitor them. The monster that tried to grab my child was not among them. However, he is still among us.

We parents need to know that.
