Three Valley children remained hospitalized Saturday night after they were found floating unconscious in swimming pools.
Today, zero sounds like a good number to Phoenix Fire Department Chief Bob Khan.

He encouraged residents to build and secure fences around swimming pools to prevent a child from falling in.
He said the Memorial Day holiday was off to dismal start with two drowning calls in Phoenix and one in El Mirage.
- Family members found a 2 1/2-year-old girl unconscious in a house pool in the 16000 block of North 36th Drive near West Greenway Road.
They performed CPR on the girl for several minutes before an emergency crew arrived. The child was listed in serious condition at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center.- A 4-year-old girl was found floating in an apartment complex pool in the 4800 block of North 19th Avenue. She had stopped breathing by the time fire crews got to the scene and was transported to St. Joseph's, Khan said. The girl had been in the water at least five minutes, he said.The girl was on life support late Saturday.
- A 1-year-old boy was found facedown in his family's pool Saturday, El Mirage police spokeswoman Annita Boynton said.
When fire crews showed up at the house at 120th Avenue and Rosewood Drive, family members were trying to resuscitate the boy. He was transported to St. Joseph's where he remained in critical condition Saturday.
