The Surprise Fire Department reported a near drowning Sunday afternoon in the 14400 block of West Ventura Street.

Firefighters said a 2-year-old girl who had been swimming with her family was found floating in the pool and not breathing. The father administered CPR, at which time the child started breathing and regained consciousness.

Firefighters transported the child to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center for evaluation. This was the first water-related emergency for the city this year.
