Background:
The Holiday Card Project has been the major fund raiser for the Children's Cancer Center at
Phoenix Children's Hospital
since 1986. Seven designs by seven artists, all patients of the Center, were selected for the 2000 card collection.
Today, more than 85 percent of children diagnosed with cancer will live. The Cancer Center's goal is to improve the
quality of life for these children and their families. Childhood cancer is significantly different from adult cancer
and must be diagnosed and treated by pediatric cancer specialists. The Children's Cancer Center at Phoenix Children's
Hospital is currently treating about 500 children from throughout Arizona. More than one-third of the children being
treated at the Center are from areas outside of the Valley.
Funds raised through Holiday Card Central support programs of the Children's Cancer Center. These include scholarships
for cancer survivors, Camp Rainbow, research, family nights and school re-entry programs. There is never any charge to
families for these services.
